Create an Infocenter View¶
The Infocenter View defines which events your calendar shows, which filters the visitor gets and how the events are sorted. You create and maintain it in the Infocenter View Builder of the Partner Portal. For the concept behind views, see Infocenter Views.
Info
The Infocenter View Builder is available once the Infocenter Views service is active for your organization. You order it in the Partner Portal.
Open the View Builder¶
- Sign in to the Partner Portal.
- Open Infocenter Views in the menu. The page Infocenter View Builder opens.
- Select your project in Select project. The list shows the existing views with their Name, ViewID, Last Modified and Created date.
Create the view¶
- Click Create View and enter a name, e.g.
Events Region Example. - Configure the tabs described below. In Overview and Search Request, change a setting with its edit (pencil) icon and click Save. Filters and facets are saved as soon as you click Apply in their dialog.
- Open the Preview tab to check the result. The preview uses the same landing web component as your website, so it shows the calendar as your visitors will see it. The tab is available once the view is saved.
Search Request¶
| Field | Use for an event calendar |
|---|---|
| Schedule Strategy | How often the view is updated: EveryHour, Every6Hours, Every12Hours, Daily or Weekly. Empty for a view that is not updated. The Project field is only shown, and only saved, when a schedule strategy is selected. |
| Project | The project whose events the view contains. Without a project in the view, the project comes from the projects setting of the landing web component. |
| Order By | Sort order of the events. For a calendar, sort by the next date: nextOccurrence asc, recurredCount asc. See Event ordering. |
| Select | Leave empty. The web components need the full items. |
| Scoring | Optional ranking rules, see Scoring. |
Filters¶
Click Add Filter to restrict the view, e.g.:
- type
Event, so that only events are shown, - category or tag for a topic, e.g. concerts or family events,
- containedInPlace for a region, municipality or place,
- sourcePartner for the events of specific data sources.
For conditions the filter list doesn't offer, add an OData Filter, e.g. type eq 'Event'. See
Filtering for the syntax.
All filters of the view always apply. The visitor can narrow the result down further in the landing component, but never see events outside the view.
Note
A view does not store a date range. The visitor selects dates with the date filter of the landing component, see Event filters.
Facets¶
Click Add Facet for every filter the visitor should see next to the event list, e.g. categoryTree,
address/addressLocality, containedInPlace/id or tag. The landing component shows the facets of the view
automatically, so you don't need to repeat them in its configuration.
For every facet you can set display names per language (responseNames). The component shows the name matching the
visitor's language. See Facets response names in views
and Facets for all facet options.
Copy the View ID¶
After saving, the view has an id like ds-f7c2599. It is shown in the ViewID column of the list, under the
view name and in the Overview tab. You need it for the landing web component.
Changes you save in the View Builder apply to every website using the view, without changes on the websites.
Create views by API¶
Instead of the View Builder you can manage views with the search/views endpoints of the Infocenter API, see the
View quickstart.
