Accessibility

We import accessibility data from Ginto Guide, a platform that finds, captures, and shares accessibility information. OK:GO is a Swiss initiative launched by the Association for Barrier-Free Switzerland (FVBS) that encourages tourism businesses to document and publish their accessibility information using Ginto as the underlying platform.

Note

Tag accesssitios: autumn 2024 the tags and icons were updated and therefore this new, official tag-group is created.

Data quality tags

The tag group accesssitios-qualityinfo ("Information on Sitios data quality") indicates the verification status of the accessibility data. It is mapped from the Ginto qualityInfo.approvalLevel field:

In addition to the approval level, Ginto provides a qualityInfo.detailLevel that indicates how complete the accessibility data is. We import all entries with a detailLevel higher than None.

We use the Ginto service ginto.guide to check the accessibility level for profiles and add the main resulting information to the object as - a list of Accessibility objects and - corresponding tags.

• 78 - Active wheelchair (Aktivrollstuhl)
• 81 - No limitations (Keine Einschränkung)
• 79 - E-wheelchair (E-Rollstuhl)
• 80 - Stroller (Kinderwagen)
• 3951 - Scewo BRO
• 11671 - Visual impairments (Sehbehinderungen)
• 11672 - Blind
• 11673 - Hearing impairments (Hörbehinderungen)
• 11674 - Deaf (Gehörlos)

Possible accessibility levels (grade):

• 0 - Accessibility unknown
• 1 - Fully accessible
• 2 - Partially accessible
• 3 - Poorly accessible

For not from sitios(ginto)-declared objects, the unofficial accessibility profiles can be used:

• wheelchair accessible
• not wheelchair accessible
• partially wheelchair accessible
• only accessible on foot - less-than-10mins
• only accessible on foot - more-than-10mins
• only accessible on foot - no time specified
• suitable for strollers

Integration example

The Zürich Tourism website displays accessibility information according to the rating profiles and accessibility levels. A link to the detailed page is provided alongside the table.

The Schwyz Tourismus website displays accessibility information by incorporating pictograms from the accesssitios tags, together with a link to the detailed page.
